How CryoPen works

CryoPen uses a fine jet of nitrous oxide to rapidly freeze the targeted area with high precision. Because the treatment is applied directly to the lesion, it helps protect the surrounding skin while treating only what needs attention.

What you might feel

Most clients describe a short, intense cold sensation, sometimes followed by mild stinging or tingling. Any discomfort is usually brief and typically settles quickly.

What happens afterwards

It is normal for the area to look a little red or slightly raised at first. Over the following days, the treated lesion may darken and form a small scab as the skin begins its natural healing process.

Downtime and healing

Downtime is usually minimal, but healing varies depending on the type and size of the lesion and where it is on the body. We will explain what to expect for your specific concern and provide clear aftercare to support the best possible result.

What happens at your appointment?

Your appointment, step by step

Your CryoPen appointment is straightforward and consultation-led. We take time to assess the area properly, explain the process clearly, and make sure the treatment is appropriate before we begin.

1) Consultation & suitability check

We will look closely at the lesion, ask a few questions about how long it has been there and whether it has changed, and confirm whether CryoPen is suitable. If it is not, we will talk you through the next best step.

2) Treatment

Once you are happy to proceed, we apply CryoPen directly to the area. Treatment is quick and targeted. The total time depends on the number, size and type of lesions being treated.

3) Aftercare & follow-up

Before you leave, you will receive simple aftercare guidance and a realistic timeline for results. Some lesions respond in one session, while others may benefit from a follow-up appointment to complete the result safely.

Results and healing timeline

Results & what to expect

CryoPen results are not instant, and that is completely normal. The treated area needs time to go through its natural healing process, and the final result depends on the type, size and location of the lesion.

What you may notice

Straight after treatment, the area can look slightly red or raised. Over the next few days, it may darken and form a small scab.

This is a typical response and part of how the body clears the treated tissue.

Typical timeline

  • Immediately after: Redness, mild swelling or sensitivity can occur
  • Days 1 to 7: The area may darken and a small scab can form
  • 1 to 4 weeks: The lesion may reduce and shed as the skin recovers

How many sessions will I need?

Some concerns respond well after one treatment, while others may require a follow-up session to ensure the lesion is completely cleared.
